In the frigid expanse of North Dakota, The Swede (Marlon Brando) exerts strict control over both his family and the prison he oversees. When an inmate’s death raises suspicions, the FBI dispatches agent Karen Polarski (Mira Sorvino) to look into the matter. Meanwhile, The Swede’s sons-in-law, Larry (Thomas Haden Church) and Bud (Charlie Sheen), stumble upon information about a train carrying millions in untraceable cash destined for destruction. Unable to resist the allure, they devise a plan to hijack the train. However, their biggest challenge is overcoming The Swede’s formidable presence.
