Method of a Serial Killer
Among the ranks of serial killers, Israel Keyes stands out as a puzzling figure. Arrested by police in Texas in March 2012, he was initially charged with the murder of 18-year-old Samantha Koenig, whom he had audaciously abducted from a coffee kiosk in Anchorage, Alaska. Once detained, Keyes admitted to additional murders and bank heists, hinting at numerous other offenses. He eventually claimed responsibility for up to 11 killings between 2001 and 2012, but was unable—or unwilling—to provide authorities with precise details of when and where these crimes occurred. Nevertheless, he shared enough information to be taken seriously by investigators. In December 2012, after spending nine months in custody, Keyes took his own life, leaving his secrets undisclosed.
