The Punk Voyage
In December 2016, a significant era in music history came to an end when the Finnish punk rock group Pertti Kurikan Nimipäivät (PKN) disbanded. “Punk Voyage” is a full-length documentary that chronicles the band’s final years, capturing both their triumphs and challenges. After achieving fame in Finland, this extraordinary foursome continued to win over fans globally. During their seven-year journey, PKN performed nearly 300 shows across 16 countries. In 2015, they were chosen to represent Finland at the Eurovision Song Contest, performing for an audience of over 100 million TV viewers. However, the demands of touring and their rising fame put a strain on the group: Kari grappled with the allure and obligations of being in the spotlight; Sami ventured into politics and religion; a romantic rivalry between Toni and the band’s roadie Niila led to tensions; and Pertti, weary of it all, opted to step away.
